Simon Cowell Saves John and Edward in The X Factor

  • Simon Cowell Saves JedwardThe X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes must have thought all their Christmas’s came at once last night as Simon Cowell decided to save the pair from the boot.

Jedward appeared in a dramatic sing-off with Welsh singer Lucie Jones, after the two were voted into the bottom two. After the pair finished their song, Louis supported his act by voting out Lucie Jones, while Dannii & Cheryl Cole both chose to spare Lucie.

It was upto Simon Cowell to make the final decision, and despite their bizarre performance of Rock DJ, he chose to save the twins by going to deadlock.

Who would I like to see again? I would probably prefer to see the boys again.” To horrified looks from Dannii, Simon continued: “I got a lot of stick for taking it down the public last week and, you know what, I’m going to do it again. I’m going to let the public decide,” he said.

When the studio audience heard the brothers had survived, there was widespread booing and Lucie Jones burst into tears, as she realised her dreams were over. In a jibe at the twins, Dannii said: “I wish all the good singers in this ’singing’ competition the best of luck. It shouldn’t have happened.

When the sing-off was announced, Cowell said: “We have to forget the past and make the decision based on the best performance tonight.

Despite Cowell saying the past was forgotten, and the decision of the judges would be based on the sing-off performance alone, he chickened out of making a decision, insisting the public should have the final say. Well I say Simon, if you feel you can pick and choose when the public should have the final say, and when you as a judge should have the final say, how about we make this competition down to the public all the way through?

Why even have a sing off? Why not go on the phone votes alone? No opportunity for the judges to save anybody. The public decides 100% of the time. I’ll tell you why you wont do that, because you want to have your cake and eat it!!!

Just a few weeks ago, Simon said of the twins: “To be fair, we put them in a competition where it’s a public vote, and we have to live, unfortunately, with the public vote. If they win, it will be a complete and utter disaster. I’d probably sulk for about six months and I’d get on a very fast plane out of the country.”

So did Simon Cowell make the right decision guys and girls? Did Lucie Jones deserve to stay? Leave a comment below…

What is the whole point having a sing off if the judges keep reverting to the public? Why not let bottom act go immediately then? The whole point is that the votes can be really close to one another and therefore the judges are there to ensure the best act of the two goes through. Simon, you are a crowd pleaser, I definitely lost all my respect for you. And by the way, Lucy was great, until you told her to change! I’ll continue to vote for Joe and hopefully two of your acts will be in the bottom two this week. Let see whether you are brave enough to make a call then. And I definitely agree with all the people saying you play the game to get rid of the weaker acts in order to enhance the chances of your own acts. Maybe the X-factor should get independent judges, because clearly there is a conflict of interest.

    Cowell

You need to remember that the x factor is about real people that can sing, not who can win between you and the other judges. This is peoples lives!!!
You may have it all but from someone that is normal remember peoples carrers. John & Edward are rubbish as you know, Lucie a threat?

Please think of the contestants not yourself

The x factor is a singing contest and all Simon Cowell had to do was pick the best singer from the bottom two! No Brainer! Cowell has been moaning about the twins since they first appeared saying that they couldn’t sing so this was the perfect moment for him to put things right. But he didn’t! Why?
I think because all of the publicity for the show they create probably keeps the TV ratings up and if they go out the ratings may fall. I’m sure he’d like them to reach the final three. Greed has kicked in and I think the integrity and honesty of both Cowell and the show have been seriously dented!

I used to have a great respect for Simons opinion and think he is a good judge of talent. However! after what he did on Saturday night knowing that Lucie would go and John and Edward would stay if he threw it open to the public vote, after all what he has said about those two lads over the weeks it proves he cares more about T.V, ratings than he does about finding talent. Greed is a terrible thing to behold. I will not be watching the rest of the show nor the next series, if there is to be one. Utterly disgusted. Malc.

Well done Simon, another Chico for you to get ratings with, more money in your pocket huh?
So far you have managed to get rid of lots of good singers by doing whats good for your bottom line, this week was the last straw as far as i’m concerned, leaving the vote to the people was a cop out as you know the people like the boys….. So much for a singing competition well it’s not that now it’s a lets get the rubbish in the charts competition, just like Chico Time…. well thats the end of my watching X Factor. hope you can play by the rukes next year coz this year is already gone…. Bet one of your over 25’s win huh…. I’m Pissed Off lots.

    Straight forward comment.
Why have 4 judges if they keep putting it back to the public .
A sheer waste of time of having a sing off if not going to be use as recent weeks prove .just extra advert money .

I too used to have a lot respect for Simon and his views. However, he has put his good reputation in jeopardy and has lost respect from X-Factor viewers. Was it really worth stirring things up in this way if it’s cost him his reputation and everyone’s respect? It may not have been his fault as to which the bottom 2 acts were, but it is hypocritical to have always said John and Edward are useless and to have then said he’d rather see them again than Lucie! I am afraid next time one of his 3 acts falls in the bottom 2, he may find backlash by the other judges – even if his act does not deserve to go out. Simon has got some hard work to do if he wants to win back people’s respect. Well done to Lucie for conducting herself in such a gracious manner despite being voted out so unfairly.

I agree with everything posted previously re Simons’ behaviour but I don’t think he realises yet the negative impact his weakening integrity will have both on X Factor and American Idol.
His selling point throughout has been his integrity of opinion, not cowing to pressure, but he just caved!!
We now see the real greedy, manipulative commercial objectives shining through.
    The bubble has just burst!

Simon acts the way he does because he has nothing to lose. If his contract rates were predicated on how well he’s perceived by the viewing public, he’d act more responsibly. I decided not to watch after he let Rachel go, not because he chose Lloyd over her but because he knew the expectations of the public as a judge- he had a duty to make a call. The channel may lose viewers but Simon’s warped delivery would continue; he’s rich, spoiled and proudly irresponsible. He’s succeeded in casting the X Factor as an unserious and unreliable talent search engine. Good luck to those who still watch the programme.

DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE – THE TWINS HAD BACKING AND JUST SANG ALONG WITH A PRE-RECORDING IN THEIR SING-OFF. THE ONLY THING THEY DID ALONE WAS TRY TO WRAP .. AND THAT WAS LAUGHABLE – SO SIMON, WHY WHERE THET ALLOWED TO DO THIS WHEN ALL THE OTHER CONYESTANTS HAVE TO JUST SING ALONG IN THEIR SING-OFF. TELL ME THATS NOT DOUBLE STANDARDS..AND A FIX !!!

I SINCERELY HOPE THAT NO-ONE VOTES AT ALL THIS COMING WEEKEND – THAT WILL BE TELLING YOU (SIMON) THAT THE ONLY ONE BEING VOTED OFF IS YOU.
X FACTOR IS NOW THE BIGGEST JOKE IN THE UK’s TV WORLD – DANNI SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS NOT LOST HER MIND, AS SHE KEEPS SAYING, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT SINGING. SIMON COWELL IS PLAYING WITH YOUNG PEOPLES LIVES HERE..IT IS A COMPLETE DISGRACE

Simon Cowell has destroyed this programme. He is enjoying the publicity at present as it keeps him in peoples mind. This storm will pass but what Simon Cowell has done will not. He has made a mockery of singers who try to better themselves. This X factor programme was for singers. It was not for a comedy duo for Simon to play with. I have met people who all say they will boycot the programme. This includes me.The panel have turned it in to their own show. This is not about singers, they are just pawns in this.I am disgusted. Getting rid of Simon Cowell and have a real judge for the songers is what is needed. Not to use people as pawns to play with and destroy.

I think Simon was right. He never rreally warmed towards Lucie and felt she “had reached her ceiling.” I also found her boring, whereas the twins have put in a great deal of effort into their acts and perhaps have not concentrated as much on improving their vocals. They are definitely entertaining and connect very well with the audience and the public alike. They are highly watchable. Well done twins.

i think simon cowell is the biggest c.u.n.t. in the world for giving it to the public vote, he knew that the twins had more votes, and let the t.w.a.t.s stay in the comp. this isnt a singing contest any more, it is just a fuc.k.i.n.g joke

Mister Cowell, my name is Diana, and I live in Serbia. Here in Serbia, we also have Got talent show, and it’s called “Ja imam talenat”. I am a contestant at this Show also, and my talent is singing…

There was a huge irregularities within the organization and the Show itself.

First I was told that I am a semi-finalists and one of the strongest favorites for the finals. After the jury voted for me and my passage to semi-finals,they didn’t contact me even after 3 and a half months, niether they played my performans on TV…as I never been there…Then after that I found out that they released in the semi-finals all of the weaker singers and therefor I had to be eliminated before show started on TV.

For You to have the realistic insigth in the situation please go to You Tube videos of Ja Imam talenat, and see couple of singers that they released in semifinales after that I will give You my link on you tube to see my performans….On you tube please watch especially semifinalists Katarina Kocetova, Andrea Raicevic, Dunja Stojkovic, and more of Your choice….

Of course, there are few really good singers.Forgive me for my bad english writing and grammar.

I really hope for Your answer…..Best regards, Diana Nastic

Simon, you did the right thing. The public can’t take the fact they were the ones that voted Lucie out, not you. Yes, you could have stepped in but you were so right, there is something missing from her performances – very stiff, somehow amateur. Sorry Lucie, good voice but not a star.
