Julian Smith & Two GrandOutrageous ‘Splash Dancer’ Fabia Cerra’s raunchy Flashdance-style routine failed to win her a place in the finals of Britain’s Got Talent last night (thank god!). Despite her best efforts in re-creating the famous scene where she was doused in water whilst sitting on a chair, the public vote went to the smooth saxophonist Julian Smith, and sweet grandfather and granddaughter duo Two Grand.

Julian Smith was the winner of the evening, leaving Two Grand and young Callum Francis to learn their fate from the three judges. I personally think they should have chosen Callum Francis, but Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden both chose Two Grand, leaving Callum Francis only one vote meaning his journey ended there.

Both Julian Smith and Two Grand will now appear in the Britains Got Talent finals on Saturday along the likes of Susan Boyle, Diversity, Flawless, Shaun Smith, Stavros Flatley and Shaheen Jafargholi.

The saxophonist, Julian wowed the public with his outstanding version of ‘All by Myself‘, a power ballad written by Eric Carmen in 1975. Judge Piers Morgan described him as “probably the coolest contestant we have ever seen on the show“, adding: “Could someone just playing an instrument seriously challenge all the singers and dancers in this competition? I think you can win the show with that saxophone.

Callum FrancisAmanda Holden added: “That is the warmest reaction from the crowd of the night. You stirred so many emotions in me. You played it so beautifully.Simon Cowell added: “I normally hate these kind of acts, but you I like as a person. I like that you are humble, ambitious and you have chosen brilliant songs each time.

Two Grand, aka Sally and her grandfather John, performed ‘Somewhere Out There‘ from the animated film An American Tail to rapturous applause from the studio audience.

An overwhelmed Amanda Holden said: “I’m a complete mess. What a fantastic performance. I love doing this show so much because it’s a family show. There is something for everyone and to see two generations on the stage – I just hope it encourages everyone to audition next year with their grandparents.

Cowell said: “I really really like you two. You are not the best singers in the world but you have complete and utter sincerity.

Speaking of John’s deceased wife, Cowell added: “Your wife would be completely proud of you“. John replied: “She is with me all the time – I have her ring round my neck.

Morgan added: “This is a family show. To anyone who was cynical after the audition show – and there were a few – you have shown you were a genuine act. You kind of epitomised what this show is about. I would personally love it if you made the final“.
